The transport robot MT-500 is based on the MP-S500. It has an extended load area that can be designed especially for the goods that have to be transported in the customer's application.

Due to its small size, its flexibility and high speed, the MT-500 is perfectly suited to bring automation to simple transportation tasks. A large number of ways is necessary to only move small amounts of parts from one workplace or storage to the next. This job can easily be done by the MT-500, leaving the qualified employees to concentrate on the value-adding work.

After the convenient setup via the PlatformCtrlGUI, MT-500 can wait at the automatic charging station, creating no additional costs but ready for work at any time.

The task of this prototype application was to semi-automatically connect an assembly position with a Kanban storage. These two stations are located in different halls with a truck loading area in between and two gates in the path.
When parts are required at the assembly position they are loaded onto the platform and the target is selected by simply pressing a button. The robot moves to the target station, opening the gates by radio control, avoiding other workers and obstacles and pausing at predefined positions if the path is currently blocked.

After reaching its destination MT-500 can automatically dock to the automatic charging station to recharge the batteries while waiting for the next task.

The transport robot MT-500 comes with:
  • Onboard computer: By default the MT-500 uses an embedded PC with 1.5GHz and 1GB RAM. The linux OS runs on a read-only flash module. The control software PlatformCtrl and all plugins required for transportation tasks are installed.
  • Controls: A four-line LC-Display shows the most important information on the current state of the robot. The MT-500 also has a keypad to directly interact with the robot without the need to have a host PC.
  • Battery charger: MT-500 comes with a battery charger that can be manually connected.
  • Crash avoidance: The basic version with one laser scanner is equipped with a system to detect holes and narrow obstacles in front of the robot.
  • Emergency stop: The platform features both standard emergency stop buttons, which have to be reset by the main access key, as well as speed-dependent safety fields. Any obstacle within these fields sets the robot to an emergency stop mode that is resetted automatically, as soon as the field is cleared.
  • Brake release: The brakes of the platform can be opened with the push of a button even if the robot is shut down or in emergency stop mode.
  • Drives: MT-500 uses maintenance-free, brushless servo motors with low-backlash gears and high performance amplifiers. The motors' fail-safe brakes are automatically closed to reduce energy consumption.
  • Documentation and Support: Every robot is delievered with a technical description, operating manual and a backup of the installed software. If any problems occur, our team is here to help you.

Options

  • Sensors: If it is necessary for the application additional ultrasonic sensors for collision avoidance, a gyroscope and/or a GPS-module for improved localisation can be integrated. The default laser scanner dynamically avoids collisions when driving forward and also detects holes and narrow obstacles. Installing a second scanner is not possible. When driving backwards, three ultrasonic sensors avoid collisions.
  • Cover: The MT-500's hull is made from GRP that can be coloured or painted customer specific. Using high quality carbon fibre reinforced plastics is also possible.
  • Additional electronics: All Neobotix platforms use an unregulated main voltage of 24V and auxiliary power at 12V and 5V. Additional devices can easily be integrated.
  • Charging station: An automatic charging station is available for the MT-500. This enables the robot to recharge itself according to a fixed schedule or when the battery charge is low.
  • Modifications: Whatever you want to do, create a unique entertainment roboter or built a mobile manipulator, we can support your idea and modify the standard robot according to your needs!
